804 Mafia's History

Established in 2022

804 Mafia was founded in the Fall of 2022 with a mission to elevate women’s flag football and build true sisterhood in Richmond, VA. Created by Founder and Owner Sha Maclin, who was brand new to the sport herself, the team was born from a simple belief: Richmond has talent, and it deserves to be seen.

The Mafia stepped onto the field for the first time in the Coast Women’s Flag League (CWFL) Fall 2022 season, marking the beginning of a journey.

2023

2023, the Mafia returned for another CWFL fall season, carrying more confidence, chemistry, and competitive fire. The roster grew into a diverse mix of women of different ages, backgrounds, and athletic abilities, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the sport. Over the course of the year, the team solidified into a committed group of women, forming the foundation of what 804 Mafia would continue to grow into.

2024

804 Mafia hit the ground running, opening the year with their first-ever tournament appearance at the Virginia Beach Invitationals and earning an impressive 2nd-place finish. The team carried that energy into another fall season in the Coast Women’s Flag League (CWFL), where they battled their way to a 3rd-place finish. Their second tournament of the year, LLF, didn’t unfold as hoped, but the setback only fueled their determination. With eyes locked on growth and improvement, the Mafia pushed forward, preparing for their long-awaited debut at Nationals for the 2024–25 season.

2025

804 Mafia continued to raise the bar with a packed and competitive season. The team competed in the NC Clash and the Big Dawg Tournament, earning an impressive 2nd-place finish in both. Returning to the Coast Women’s Flag League (CWFL) for the fall season, the Mafia secured another strong 3rd-place finish. With more experience, chemistry, and confidence than ever before, the team entered Nationals ready to make a statement, and they did just that, finishing 2nd overall. A major leap from their 5th place finish the previous year. The growth was undeniable, and the Mafia proved they were becoming a true force in women’s flag football.
